Ricardo ‘Jah Defender’ Mills is a Reggae artist hailing from the Caribbean archipelago of Trinidad and Tobago, in the Caribbean.

His love for music started at a very tender age from when he heard the sweet sounds of his Mother singing along to the hits of the day voiced by the likes of Whitney Houston, Pasty Cline, Gregory Isaacs, Bob Marley and Michael Jackson.

While in Secondary school, Reggae music became popular in Trinidad and Tobago, with the powerful and uplifting message of Rastafari through artists like Capleton, Sizzla, Anthony B, Luciano and Garnet Silk.

From the age of 18, he started writing his own songs and today he has a musical repertoire of well over 300 songs.

In 2006, he entered the scene professional with his hit ‘I don't wanna lose you’, which was well received by the local Reggae industry.

Many regard his music as positive and conscious. His soothing voice has captured the hearts of his fans both in the Caribbean and on the international scene.

Jah Defender, independent reggae artist, has, in the past, allied himself with many recording labels. One of these alliances was with 7 Seals Records (France) who teamed up with Jah Defender for the creation of his debut album ‘Rastaman Rise’ which was released July 2013.

This rootsy album was well received by reggae fans worldwide. Even being nominated by Reggae.fr for ‘best new roots album 2014’ alongside the likes of Chronixx, Sizzla, Kabaka Pyramid, Jr. Kelly and Alborosie.

In February 2015, Jah Defender was featured as the main act in the Bob Marley Marathon's 18th Edition hosted in Martinique. He returned to Martinique in May for the African Liberation Day celebrations and other stage shows around the island.

In January 2016, the Warrior Tour of Jah Defender took place in France during 2 months. Here is the opportunity to meet the French public, but also European.

He returned the same year in Europe (France, Germany, and Netherlands) during 3 months for his Redemption Tour, to promote his EP ‘Things in Time’, released in May 2016.

This EP was nominated ‘best album of 2016’ by Reggaeville.com and ‘best new EP/album for 2016’ by Reggae.fr.
In 2017 Jah Defender was on the line-up of Harmonious Riddim with his song “ Mama “alongside many international artists as Capleton, Pressure, Kabaka Pyramid , a rather successful one drop series signed by Matao Muzic

On his musical journey, he has shared the stage with numerous popular artists such as: Morgan Heritage, Jr. Reid, Jah Cure, Steel Pulse, Pressure Buss Pipe, Chezidek, Terry Ganzie, Akae Beka, Super Cat, Maxi Priest, Kabaka Pyramid and Jovi Rockwell.

He also came in Europe in summer 2017 to meet his fans in France and Austria and share with them some authentic moments filled with musical vibrations and lyrics that elevate and open minds.

In addition to this, he has collaborated with other artists such as Chuck Fender, Pressure Buss Pipe and Fantan Mojah.

His talent is recognized globally, and is supported by many people within the music industry. Jah Defender is adamant in keeping the message of Rastafari true. Due to all these reasons, he gives all tribute to his fans as they are the ones that have fuelled his desire to continuously thrive through music.
